福生 米軍横田ベースでの英会話レッスンに行く
一年くらい前から英会話のレッスンを福生の米軍 横田ベース内で受けている。 去年の暮れくらいまでは、ほぼ毎週平日の夜に行っていたのだが、先生の都合により、今年に入ってから週末オンリーとなったため、なかなか忙しくて月1度のペースになっていた。 また、平日のレッスンができるようになったとのことで、昨日ひさしぶりに横田ベースへ行ってきた。
よくベースに行ってるというと驚かれるのだが、ちゃんとベース関係者のホストがいれば、身分証を提示してパスをもらって居住エリア内には簡単に入れる。 俺の場合は英会話のレッスンが目的で先生がホストということになる。 日本人は俺みたいな語学レッスンで来る人も含めてかなり来てる。 米兵の彼女みたいのも多いし、地元の商店街で祭りの指導できてるおじいちゃん、おばあちゃん達みたいのも見かける。
ベース内の居住エリアはひとつの街で滑走路をまたがって住居エリアや日常生活の公共的なものがあるエリアなどに別れていて、中にはショッピングセンター、郵便局、ジム、映画館、コンビニ、ファーストフード店、ホテル、バー、病院、学校などひととおりの施設は揃っている。 よく行くのはショッピングセンターの一階のファーストフードがいくつかあるところで、食事をしながらレッスンを受けている。

それで、昨日は、ひさびさにOne to Oneのレッスンだった。 俺の先生は30歳のオハイオ出身のAir Force上がりの人で、現在はプログラマーなどをしている。 いつもは２〜３人他にも生徒がいるので、わりと何気ない普通の話題が中心なのだが、1:1だとわりとPC関係やらインターネットとかの話題が多くなる。 で、昨日の話題はWEB2.0、 ajaxがどーのこうのとか、ま〜そういったことを英語で話すわけだが、なぜかこういった話題の方が英語で話しやすいのは、横文字言葉が多いからだろうか？ｗ
かなり前からﾍﾞｰｽのEnglish Learningのサイトを立ち上げるとか、立ち上げないとかの話があって、再びその話がでてきたので、システムを作ってからじゃなくて、今あるシステムやサービスを利用して、例えばMyspaceの中なんか在日米軍の人もいっぱいいるし、語学に興味がある日本人もいっぱいいるわけだから、そういったSNSの中でグループを作ってから、コミュティーサイトとして別のサイトを作って独立したほうがよいよ。 などという。 とても普通の英会話学校ではでてこないようなレッスンをしてるわけですｗｗ。
そういえば、おれの先生も平日、教える時間が増えたので新規に生徒を募集しているということなので、ちょっと代わりに宣伝です。
・基本的にはWeekdayは19:00〜21:00 2,000円/時
・Weekendの土日は13:00〜15：00で月4回で15,000円
・そのほかにマンツーマンレッスンの場合は2時間で6,000円です。

English Instructor Lesson FAQ
How much does the lesson cost?
My lesson price is normally \4,000 per lesson. This is a group lesson price. If you want to guarantee a one on one lesson, the lesson price is \6,000 and must coordinated at least one week in advance.
How long does the lesson last?
All of my lessons last for 2 hours. I believe that lessons that are less than two hours don't provide enough benefit to the student. Two hours lets us really get into learning English effectively.
Where is the lesson held?
My lessons are held at Yokota Air Base. Once inside Yokota, I take students to the Yokota Community Center where we can have lunch/dinner in an all-English speaking environment. This lets students experience American culture and be immersed in the English language.
What type of lesson do you offer?
My lessons are very casual and friendly, with an emphasis on conversation. Students are encouraged to participate in conversation while I assist in correcting any mistakes.
How many students are at one lesson?
I generally have 2-4 students for each lesson on Saturday or Sunday. However, during the weekdays, I usually only have 1-2 students per lesson. I try to ensure that I don't have more than 5 students at one lesson, so all students at the lesson get a chance to talk.
Remember, if you want to have a private lesson, the price is higher and must be scheduled at least one week in advance.
Do you offer a trial lesson?
Yes, your first lesson with be completely free.
How do I get to the lesson?
Since lessons are held on Yokota Air Base, you will need to come to the visitor's center. The visitor's center is just inside of the Fussa gate of Yokota Air Base.
What do I need to bring with me to the lesson?
You must bring a picture I.D. card, such as a passport or driver's license. This I.D. will be used to get into Yokota Air Base. Other things to bring are pen, paper, or dictionary.
When can I take your lessons?
I can teach English everyday. Here is my schedule; you simply choose the day you want to come!
o Monday to Friday: 7:00pm to 9:00pm
o Saturday & Sunday: 1:00pm to 3:00pm
When do I pay for my lessons?
You pay for your lesson on the same day as your lesson, after the lesson has completed.
